Edmund Park :

Year 6 Camp 2004

118 Year 6s and 9 teachers travelled to Edmund Park for this year's camp. It was an enjoyable and challenging week for all those involved.

"Everything ran smoothly. Camp was a real challenge for me and it taught me how to survive in the bush." Samuel

"Camp was a great experience because it helped everyone overcome their fears." Emily

"It was awesome at camp. At first it was a bit scary doing the activities then I got used to it. I really enjoyed the nature walk because I learnt about new plants and how to survive in the bush." Galen

"I think that it was the best camp I had been on because of the type of things we did. And I was with all my friends. We learnt about survival and how to set up a tent."

"This year's camp was really, really fun. The food was absolutely magnificent and the games were tremendous fun." Minnie

"I think camp was pretty exciting but some of it was hard work. We had to walk around 2km." Leanne

"On the day we arrived at Edmund Park, the instructors went wild and danced."

They also helped us out and taught us new skills.

"I was amazed at how the instructors managed to prepare 4 days and 3 nights of camping." Ariane

"I thought that camp was very fun and worthwhile. I found that the flying possum was the best." Emily

"I faced my fear of heights." Nayan

"I really liked the flying fox."

"I enjoyed the flying possum even though it was really high."

"The tree climb and the flying possum were really fun. They gave me butterflies in my stomach."

"When it came to lifting Mr Harris, we found he was pretty heavy but when he was in the air he copied Vivien's idea of doing Yoga."

"When we went on the flying fox, we left Mr Davis up there." Aaron

"I thought camp was fantastic. I had the most fun but it was challenging as well."

"I enjoyed camping out in the tent but I didn't enjoy the walking to where we were camping. The next morning going back to our dormitory I almost had a heart attack because there was no short-cut!" Anthony

"Camp was a great experience along with hiking and the food. I learnt from camp in a fun way. I learnt how to waterproof my sleeping bag, how to set up a tent and how to use a mini stove."

"Edmund Park was a fantastic experiemce for young campers. I thought the campout was the most worthwhile. The burrito was a brand new source of food for me .....!"

The Camp Out was great:

"Adrian said that a possum went into his tent and over his head. He kept on telling us it really happened . . ."

"My partner and I had to answer a call of nature during the night. When we came back to the tent we heard squawking amd scratching sounds which we found scary . . ." Wesley

"Camp was a worthwhile experience that I won't forget. It was all about learning about nature and doing outside activities like hiking on steep hills and finding out if water is fresh or not. I also learnt how to keep out of the rain by using branches and leaves and how to cook from a small flame. I got a lot of exercise!" Ariane

"I really enjoyed hiking up the hills though I ended up with very sore feet." Rollin

"The best thing about camp was all the games, activities and the fact that we were with our friends." Payal

"I really enjoyed MacGregor Idol with all the songs and funny commercials including ours."

"The most embarrassing thing was MacGregor Idol but it was fun." Pyan

"I think that Year 6 camp was a worthwhile trip ... because you get to experience new, exciting and sometimes breathtaking games such as the flying possum, low ropes, tree climbing and more. We even did MacGregor Idol. It was so fun but embarrassing! You get to do things you have never done before. The food was just delicious!"

"I think that the most disappointing thing was we didn't get to go canoeing and abseiling. The thing I didn't like at night was sleeping. People didn't stop talking." Pyan

"Camp was fun and I really enjoyed it." Thomas

"I enjoyed camp very much and I learned so much. Year 6 Camp 2004 Edmund Park was great fun and a great success!"

"I really enjoyed the food. It was really nice. I could have taken the chef home with me."

"The food was delicious and the low ropes was fun."

"I think going to camp was fun and exciting. I learnt lots form it. It was funny how Reeza put toothpaste all over Jonathan's face."

"Apart from cow's poo, lumpy ground, sloped tents and annoying girls, camp was fun! However, they do keep you tired . . ."

"Camp was an excellent experience but sometimes it was a disappointment because the low ropes, tree climb and the flying possum weren't scary." Angela

"Year 6 camp was a wonderful experience. I took everything into account and will use the strategies etc that I learned as much as possible." Alistair
