snarls which is how it got its name. |

|
Habitat:
The Tasmanian Devil is a solitary marsupial from dry eucalyptus forests.
They live in a variety of places such as dense rainforests, and open
plains. Also sometimes they claim self made burrows in dense brush
theirs. During the day the Tasmanian devil retreats to a hollow ,
log or a burrow. |

The Tasmanian Devil usually mates in March. 2-3 babies are born within
1 month of mating. In late December the young devils leaves its mother.
They normally live up to around 8 years. |
 |
Food:
Tasmanian Devils feed on snakes, birds, rodents, lizards and wallabies.
A lot of insects, larvae and especially carrions (carcasses or dead
animal bodies) are eaten by the devils. Mainly Tasmanian Devils eat
whatever is available.

Why
are they Endangered?
It is believed that there is a disease killing 90% of the devil
population. Soon, maybe, devils may only survive in cartoons.
Tasmanian Devils lived in the mainland of Australia before they
were killed by farmers because they believed the devils ate their
livestock and poultry. |
| The
Tasmanian Devils were swept out of the mainland Australia. In this
situation, the killing of Tasmanian Devils could have been stopped.
