| The
HIPPIE years |
 |
 |
 |
| These
were the
hippie years. Clothes did not have to be well made; they were thrown
together and only worn for a few months. During the 1960s, people
dared to be different, by wearing brighter colours. Mini skirts were
in and trousers revealed more of the female leg than ever before.
At this point even the queen had to raise her hemlines above the knee.
Skirts became so short that women's bottoms were almost visible. |

| By
1967, influence of the underground brought out the hippies. They wore
denim clothing and boots with silky long hair or teased their hair
into a afros. But by the end of the 60s the hippies ceased and clothes
dropped down to the floor and became looser. Crochet and knitted clothing
was popular. Flat shoes and long white shoes also became popular.
Coats had huge fan collars and clothes were strapless, revealing the
women's shoulders. |
